"The Thing cannot be described, there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force, and cosmic order. A mountain walked or stumbled... The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own. The stars were right again, and what an age-old cult had failed to do by design, a band of innocent sailors had done by accident. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight." -The Call of Cthulhu
Behold The Great Old One Cthulhu!
This picture took a shit-load of time to make but I'm finally done. This is my second picture of Cthulhu I drew, my original one was mainly just to conceptualize the creature, this time I was going for a more cinematic image. This drawing depicts the climax scene of "The Call of Cthulhu" story by H.P. Lovecraft, where Cthulhu rises from the ancient city of R'lyeh.
I changed my design slightly by adding some odd spiral markings over his body to give him a more mystical appearance. It was also interesting drawing Cthulhu's privates (I don't think anybody has ever done that before! hehehe!). I also added a few of Cthulhu's star spawn near the bottom (I know that never really happened in the original story but I couldn't resist putting these guys in the picture). I hope you guys also notice the little humans, once again I'm trying to get across the idea of how huge Cthulhu is meant to be (miles high).
terrorizing!horrific!!!EPIC!!!!!these words and many more spring to mind when seeing this master piece!!!all the fine little details and the tiny, insect sized humans(poor things!lol)really come together flawlessly!!!!one of the best Cthulhu pieces i have seen!bravo!
that, or one wickedly scary picture that needs to be turned in to a poster.
Keep the good work, you have talents, sure. (sorry for my english ^^)
